Setup Dialup Internet &
Email in Windows 98/ME/2000
Getting to the Internet Connection Wizard
- Click on Start ->Settings
->Control Panel
- Double click Internet Options.
Internet Properties
- Click on the Connections
tab.
- Click on the Setup button
and the Internet Connection Wizard will start.

- Select I want to set up my
connection manually...
- Click Next.
Setting up your Internet
Connection
- Make sure I connect through
a phone line and modem is selected.
- Click Next.
Step 1 of 3: Internet
account connection information
- Area Code: Leave this
blank unless you plan to call somewhere long
distance..
- Phone Number: Enter
the local dial-up phone number for where you
live. For Greenwood, enter 538-0038 and leave
the area code blank. You
can call us or contact support@metanetis.com
if you need help finding the right
number for you.
- Click Next.
Step 2 fo 3: Internet
account logon information
- Username: Type in your
MetaNet username. Make sure all characters are
in lower case and there are no spaces.
Make sure to add @meta-net.net
to your username (if your username is john,
enter the full john@meta-net.net).
- Password: Type in the
password you chose when you signed up. Again,
all lower case and no spaces.
- Click Next.
Step 3 of 3: Configuring
your computer
- Connection Name: You can
leave the connection name as it is or change
it to MetaNet. This is just a title so you can
name it anything you like.
- Click Next.
Set up Your Internet Mail Account
- If creating email account in
Outlook Express select "Yes" and continue with
setup instructions for Outlook Express. Click
here
for instuctions
- If creating email account in
different email program select "No" when asked
"Do you want to set up an internet mail account
now". Click Next and the click Finish from the
next window and continue with setup instructions
for the appropriate email program.
- If only creating a dialup connection
account select "No" when asked "Do you want
to set up an internet mail account now". Click
Next and the click Finish from the next window.
